About Jane Weis
I specialize in oil painting because I love the creamy consistency of the paint and the vibrancy of color I can get. I get enthused when I am painting a subject that has intense interplay of light and colors. Nature in all its forms attract me especially those that are seemingly ordinary but then in a moment are touched by a passing light and become transformed. As do I. I am inspired to paint. This inspiration becomes the creative approach to my work with the intention to paint something ordinary that has been transformed into the extraordinary. When I turned 12 years old my Mom gave me my first set of oil paints and an easel. I immediately painted my first oil painting on a readily available canvas – a piece of corrugated cardboard. And from that moment on I knew in my heart that I was going to be an artist. After raising my family and finishing my college degree, I began my art career as an emerging artist in 1997. I have been accepted into numerous Juried Art Exhibits throughout Michigan. My art hangs in private collections throughout the United States and in Corporate Collections including The Exchange State Bank and the Ann Arbor Bank of Michigan. In 2001, the Yale DDA commissioned me to paint 12, 5 feet by 10 feet scenic murals of historical Yale that now hang on the Fairway Discount Store in Yale, Michigan. In 2004, I have opened up the Yellow Brush Art Studio where I paint, offer art instruction and have a gallery of my oils on display. Please visit my blog at http://yellowbrushartstudio.blogspot.com
